Blair Davie ‘First And Last’ EP Review by Graham Finney.

There are some artists out there who write that one unforgettable song that just hits all the feels. In the case of Scottish singer-songwriter Blair Davie, it’s every song on new EP, ‘First And Last’, out this week.

Right from the opening moments of “Coming Back Babe”, you can’t help but feel every word that Blair pours into these songs. This is the sound of an artist at their most vulnerable and, like I said, it hits every emotion.

The photo accompanying this release shows a smiling Blair, but the vulnerability and honesty injected into these songs paint a more emotional picture. Comprising six tracks, while the opening track, “Crashing The Car,” has a joyous feel, “Crashing The Car” finds Blair in a more reflective, emotional mood.

Described as a love story, Blair also uses the words raw, honest, and joyful to describe ‘First And Last.’ “Crashing The Car” epitomizes all of those emotions in four tender, heart wrenching minutes. “What A Life” is another of those reflective songs where Blair shows the wonderful knack of being able to write the kind of story that sends the listener’s imagination into overdrive.

This beautifully crafted love story concludes with the gentle “Butterflies,” where Blair wraps up this six-song effort with one of the EP’s highlights. Along with “Coming Back Babe”, Blair bookends ‘First And Last’ with two songs that perfectly start and wrap up this heartwarming tale of love and life.

At six songs long, ‘First And Last’ is the perfect way to get to know this wonderfully talented singer-songwriter. While it might only be a short story, it’s one that finds Blair taking the listener on a heartwarming rollercoaster of a journey and one that leaves you eager for more.
