Of Mice & Men ‘Another Miracle’ Album Review by Graham Finney

Of Mice & Men return with their ninth studio album, ‘Another Miracle,’ set for release on 14 November 2025 via Century Media Records. At this stage of their career, whereas many bands are content just to dial in another record, ’Another Miracle’ finds this Southern California quartet building on their reputation as a band capable of balancing raw intimacy with polished, crunching modern metal, a quality highlighted throughout this new record.

Keeping everything in-house thus maintaining control over every minute detail of this record, ‘Another Miracle’ was written, produced, and engineered entirely by the band themselves. Frontman Aaron Pauley also mixed and mastered the album, choosing not to bring in an outside producer in favour of a more personal and intimate process. According to the band, this approach reflects their desire to create a project that is both deeply personal and creatively expansive. Does it achieve that?

Well, on the whole yes. An arena-sized modern metal affair, ‘Another Miracle’ finds Of Mice & Men delivering an album that is going to tick all of the boxes for what their loyal fanbase would be expected. What it lacks in surprises, it makes up for in power, emotion, and sheer quality. An atmospheric opening minute gives way to the brutal metalcore of “A Waltz.” A pulsing, abrasive opener, Of Mice & Men follow it up with “Troubled Water” where those cleaner, more melodic moments peak out through the jittery electronic/metalcore on this deeply personal track. ”Hourglass“ is one of those cathartic musical moments where you just know all hell will break loose in the pit once it kicks in.

Following it up with the more melodic “Wake Up,” in two tracks you have now heard both sides to Of Mice & Men‘s personality. On the one side you have the face-smashing rage of “Hourglass” but here, Of Mice & Men show off their more slicker, more mainstream side. Here, in particular, you also get to hear the full range of frontman Pauley‘s vocals as he ventures into cleaner waters to match the pop-tinged passages of the song.

As the album powers through its journey, you find it all follows a very similar pattern. “Flowers” is a slick, built for rock radio, anthem. The title track on the otherhand is a surging, glitchy, metalcore banger. “Parable” could comfortably sit in both worlds. Each of them, in their own way, is a great demonstration of what Of Mice & Men have done so well for twenty years but, does it knock you off your seat in surprise? Not really.

Two decades into their career, the fact that Of Mice & Men are still capable of delivering solid additions to their catalogue as ‘Another Miracle,’ is something that should be applauded. A solid, anthemic modern metal album, ‘Another Miracle,’ might not surprise their longtime fans but, there are more than enough quality moments throughout the album to make those fans sit up and pay attention.
