An exclusive preview exhibition of select highlights has been on display at Hard Rock® Cafe New York from 12 November to 3 December, offering international visitors a rare opportunity to see pieces from Walsh’s personal archive ahead of the auction.
A portion of proceeds from sales will support VetsAid, the military veteran-focused charity founded by Walsh, which since 2017 has provided millions of dollars in grants to organisations assisting former service personnel and their families.
Walsh explained: “One thing you find about human nature is we collect things and I have acquired too much stuff. I wanted people to have a chance to get a guitar or get something of mine that they may think is valuable. So, it’s my way of giving back. And this will help veterans as a portion of the proceeds from the auction will go to VetsAid.” Adding his trademark humour, he went on to say “And now I will have more room in my warehouse so I can go get more stuff!”
On offer is a standout selection of fashion pieces closely tied to key moments in Walsh’s career. Centrepieces include the iconic Moschino “brick wall” suit c. 1997, worn by Joe Walsh to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony held on January 12, 1998 at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York, NY (Lot#252). Equally striking is a blazer with an American flag print, stage-worn by Joe Walsh on July 3, 2016 at the “One Hell Of A Night With Joe Walsh And Bad Company” tour stop held at Carl Black Chevy Woods Amphitheater At Fontanel in Nashville, Tennessee (Lot #373).
Also up for grabs is a gold, black, and white jersey top with “Kent State” stenciled on the front in black lettering, stage-worn by Joe Walsh while performing with the Eagles at the Richfield Coliseum in Ohio on October 20, 1979 (Lot #124). Completing the line-up is a vintage Barnstorm blue, red, and white jersey style top with a felt graphic on the back related to Joe Walsh’s trio band Barnstorm, formed after his exit from James Gang. Labeled “Rawlings.” (Lot #16). Together, these garments offer collectors rare and evocative pieces from Walsh’s storied musical journey.
The auction’s technical highlights include a historic Record Plant and Design FX location truck API recording and mixing console, formerly installed in one of The Record Plant’s mobile recording trucks, with the number 2395 inscribed on one side. This particular console, along with its associated rack mounted equipment, has recorded many live performances by world-famous artists including Eagles, Blues Traveler, Bonnie Raitt, Elton John, The Rolling Stones, Metallica, Neil Young, Willie Nelson, Green Day, Michael Jackson’s 1993 Super Bowl Halftime performance (Lot#310). Also on offer is the Hammarlund HQ-One Forty Five 145C. According to Joe, it was the first radio he bought after he acquired his radio license. Features 11 tubes, a 10:1 signal to noise ratio, and an intuitive control layout (Lot#380). There’s also a handcrafted Alessandro Plott Hound Guitar Amplifier Head in a wood cabinet. 2 6v6, Class A, 2 6SL7 preamp, Gz34 Rectifier. Handmade flame maple cabinet (Lot #12).
There’s also a varied selection of guitars from Walsh’s personal collection on offer. Among them is a A 1990 Alvarez Yairi DY88 SB acoustic guitar, in sunburst finish (Lot #2). Also offered is a distinctive 2007 Ampeg Dan Armstrong ADA6 solid body electric guitar, in clear plexiglas. Features a bolt-on 24.75 inch three piece maple neck with a 24 fret rosewood fingerboard and a simulated wood headstock overlay (Lot #3), alongside a A Bohemian Guitars Surf Wax Oil Can guitar with blue and yellow Bohemian Surf Wax graphics (Lot #8). Rounding out the group is a c.2010 Breedlove Mark I solid body electric guitar, in sunburst finish. Played by Joe Walsh on the Ringo Starr music video for the song “Fill in the Blanks” where Joe can be seen playing it alongside Ringo (Lot #10), alongside many more on offer.
The auction features three notable vehicles from Walsh’s personal collection. An original 2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, signed by Carroll Shelby (Lot #1). Also included is an original 2008 Hummer H2 equipped with a 6.2 liter V8 engine paired to a 6-speed 6L80E automatic transmission that produces 393 horsepower and 417 lb-ft of torque. The odometer on the vehicle reads 16,893 miles (Lot #379). Completing the trio is an original 2013 McLaren MP4-12C Spider which features 3.8 litre twin turbo V8 engine paired to a 7-speed Graziano dual-clutch transmission, producing 607 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque, and capable of a top speed of 204 mph. The odometer currently reads 2906 miles (Lot#776)..

Record Plant and Design FX Location Truck API Recording Console
An API recording and mixing console, formerly installed in one of The Record Plant’s mobile recording trucks, with the number 2395 inscribed on one side. This particular console –– along with its associated rack mounted equipment –– has recorded many live performances by world-famous artists including Eagles, Blues Traveler, Bonnie Raitt, Elton John, The Rolling Stones, Metallica, Neil Young, Willie Nelson, Green Day, Michael Jackson’s 1993 Super Bowl Halftime performance. This console was also used to record for broadcast including The 1992-1995 Academy Awards, The 1993 Grammy Awards, VH1 Storytellers for Tom Petty, Tom Waits, and Sarah McLachlan.

A Moschino “brick wall” suit, c. 1997, worn by Joe Walsh to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony held on January 12, 1998 at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York, NY.
The double-vent, wool blend suit jacket features three front pockets, two interior pockets, and a three front button closure, and built-in shoulder pads. Together with a pair of matching straight leg suit pants. Each labeled “Cheap and Chic by Moschino.” Jacket size 46; pant size US 36.
At the ceremony, the Eagles performed “Take It Easy” and “Hotel California,” marking the only time all seven Eagles (including former members) took the stage together. They broke their “no former members” policy for the induction night. While giving their speeches, former band member Don Felder commented on Walsh’s suit by jokingly calling it a “charming outfit.”
