First up, it is an absolute honour to announce Mississippi blues legend & Grammy winner Bobby Rush, who will play a full band show on the Red Rooster mainstage. Expect Bobby’s renowned high energy show to blow the roof off Red Rooster! Bobby Rush is a force of nature who remains the oldest living and performing bluesman in the world, touring relentlessly.
Another US legend, American underground icon Jon Spencer makes his very welcome return to a UK festival stage and first time at Red Rooster. Jon Spencer wrote the book on punk blues and reinvented rocknroll with the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion in the 90’s. Jon arrives at Red Rooster with his new power trio, joined by Spider Bowman and Kendall Wind of Woodstock punks The Bobby Lees. Expect raw, feral, high-voltage rock.
Vermont’s maverick Sam Amidon brings his brilliantly off-kilter take on Americana. Fresh from the release of Salt River and appearances on Later… with Jools Holland, Sam weaves banjo, fiddle and guitar around that unmistakable voice – tender one moment, gloriously unhinged the next.
Will Varley returns with his sharp, soulful songwriting. One of the UK’s most respected modern storytellers, Will’s lyrical honesty has won the admiration of Billy Bragg, Counting Crows and many more.
From Indiana, Left Lane Cruiser bring their riotous hillbilly punk-blues. Channelling the North Mississippi hill-country tradition of R.L. Burnside and Junior Kimbrough, their swampy slide guitar and thunderous rhythms promise a late-night blowout of the highest order.
International blues torchbearers The Cinelli Brothers make their Red Rooster debut. Raised in Italy and now London-based, Marco and Alessandro Cinelli lead one of Europe’s most exciting live blues outfits, celebrated from London to Memphis.
New Orleans born Acantha Lang brings her powerhouse soul to the festival. With a voice compared to Aretha and Gladys Knight, and chart success on both sides of the Atlantic, Acantha delivers modern soul with deep Southern roots.
Sweet Giant make their debut – delivering clattering, psychedelic rock ’n’ roll joy.
Australia’s Imogen Clark joins us with her big-hearted Americana. ARIA-nominated and now based in Nashville, Imogen’s powerful voice and fearless songwriting have seen her tour with Shania Twain and Colin Hay.
Flying the flag for the UK is rising soul sensation Lucca Mae. Channelling the emotional fire of Sam Cooke and Amy Winehouse, her raw, expressive voice is going to light up stages.
The Shadracks are bringing their razor-sharp rhythm ’n’ punk. Norfolk favourites Mama Oh No are ready with their warm, surf-soaked soul. The Red Hot Riot Big Band light the fuse with their turbo-charged rockabilly. Motel Sundown brings soft-rock harmonies and golden-hour warmth. Explosive London legends The Dirty Strangers return with swagger and stories, whilst transatlantic duo Lassie conjure dark, cinematic psychedelic-folk.
