Sophie Ellis-Bextor has been announced as the latest headliner for Live at Tileyard North; a new series of outdoor concerts taking place in Wakefield next summer, with the celebrated English singer-songwriter performing in the city on Thursday 27th August, 2026.

Since her collaboration with Italian DJ Spinner, 2000’s ‘Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love)’, which reached no. 1 in the charts and became one of the best-selling vinyl singles of the millennium, Sophie Ellis-Bextor has been a pop music mainstay. Her subsequent debut album, 2001’s Read My Lips sold 1.5 million copies and featured the anthemic single ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’ which reportedly became one of the most-played songs of the year in Europe and established Ellis-Bextor as a creative force in her own right.

23 years, six full-length releases and two greatest hits compilations later, ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’ featured in the epic final scene of director Emerald Fennell’s critically acclaimed Saltburn which rocketed the track back into the UK charts, broke 11 billion global streams and for the very first time, gave Ellis-Bextor a US singles chart entry.

Ellis-Bextor’s eighth studio album, Perimenopop, was released this September to widespread critical acclaim and became her highest-charting release in over a decade, with singles likes ‘Freedom of the Night’, ‘Relentless Love’ and ‘Taste’ reframing and reaffirming Ellis-Bextor’s distinctly English disco-pop artistry.

Ellis-Bextor joins recently announced Live at Tileyard North headliners the Vaccines, who will be in Wakefield performing their critically acclaimed 2011 debut album What Did You Expect From the Vaccines? in full to celebrate 15 years since its release on Sunday 30th August.
