The Stockton Globe was alive with energy last night, May 22, 2025, as Gary Barlow brought his Songbook Tour to the venue for the first time and delivered a night to remember. Fans filled the venue, buzzing with anticipation, and when Gary Barlow took the stage in a dazzling jacket, launching into Open Road, the crowd erupted, singing along to every word. The setlist struck a perfect balance, weaving Take That classics like Shine and Rule the World with solo hits like Let Me Go, each track igniting waves of nostalgia and foot-stomping excitement.
The confetti moments always steal the show. After a supposed “glitch” at the Sheffield City Hall show on May 19th with the confetti cannons, it turns out that it was all intentional confetti surprise to amp up the fun. During Greatest Day, cannons blasted, showering the Globe with glittering red and white confetti that had fans tossing it skyward, transforming the venue into a joyous, shimmering chaos. Barlow’s charm shone through, with witty jabs at his Pray-era dance moves (still executed with flair) and warm stories about his songwriting process that drew the audience in.
The band was phenomenal, with the brass section elevating Incredible to new heights, while a medley of The Flood and Since I Saw You Last had the crowd roaring every lyric. By the time Back for Good and Never Forget closed the night, phone lights glowed, confetti still drifted, and voices united in a euphoric singalong. Compared to City Hall, The Stockton Globe felt decidedly more intimate, and the connection with the audience felt just as tight. Fans left hoarse, and buzzing with joy. X posts echoed the sentiment, with fans hailing the night as “electric” and “a confetti triumph.”
