Singer-songwriter Alexandra King has released her debut EP, Across the Pond, available everywhere now. The project highlights her unique blend of Irish heritage and American roots, featuring two original songs and two covers that shaped her journey as an artist. The focus track, “Lose Me to Dublin,” captures her deep connection to Ireland, both musically and personally.

King’s path to this moment has been extraordinary. Years ago, she faced a spinal cord injury that left her questioning whether she would ever walk, or perform again. Music became her lifeline during recovery, fueling the determination that ultimately allowed her to heal and return to the stage. Though she built a career as a barred attorney in New York, King ultimately followed her heart to Nashville, where she now pursues music with a renewed commitment.

“Across the Pond is where tradition meets my own experience, a bridge between Ireland and my Irish-American roots,” says King. “The two original songs are a love letter to Ireland, inspired by its beauty, music, people, and the many experiences I’ve had there, while the two covers are ones that shaped me through family gatherings and my years at NUIG. This EP is more than music; it’s a collection of memories, both borrowed and my own, from the Ireland I love so well.”

Alexandra’s Irish roots run deep on her father’s side of the family. The Currans hail from Carrigallen, County Leitrim, where many cousins still reside, as well as in Galway and Dublin. Her aunt, who married a farmer in County Westmeath, lives on a sheep farm that has been in the family for generations, and Alexandra spent countless summers and holidays there growing up. With more family in Ireland than in the States, her bond to the country is as personal as it is musical. She also studied abroad at NUIG, where she made lifelong friends, including two from Carrigallen itself.

In a town overflowing with songwriters, King stands out with her soulful vocals, raw honesty, and the unmistakable influence of her Irish heritage. Across the Pond represents not only her artistry but also her resilience and the healing power of music.
