Rising Scottish singer-songwriter Blair Davie releases heartwarming new single, ‘Happy New Year’. Listen here.

‘Happy New Year’ captures the emotions surrounding family and love in a way only Blair could manage. Over affecting piano and acoustic guitar, the feelings of the festive season are captured by Blair, with “Auld Lang Syne” – a Scottish song traditionally sung to bid farewell to the old year – the central calling.

Speaking on the single Blair says, “‘Happy New Year’ is about celebrating all that has passed and all that’s to come. It’s not just a festive greeting; it’s a lifelong devotion. It’s a heartfelt New Year’s reflection of love, commitment, and renewal. I wrote it with my two best pals and my little brother at the start of the year in a wee Airbnb in the middle of nowhere in Scotland. I had been thinking about the first New Year that I got to spend with my partner and their family and when my brother started playing the piano part in the morning the whole song just poured out.”

This single follows the recent success of Blair’s latest EP, First And Last, released in October to acclaimed response. It featured standout favourites such as title track First And Last, which artfully discussed the intensity of everlasting love, and Butterflies, an unflinching ballad on the excitement of new love being just as impactful.

Blair’s been on a busy run of live performances throughout 2025, including headline shows across Ireland, Europe, the US, and the UK. Following a summer appearance at Electric Picnic in Stradbally, Blair took the acclaimed live show to major festivals including Reeperbahn (Hamburg) and London Calling at Paradiso (Amsterdam). In addition to festival slots, Blair has headlined intimate venues in the Netherlands, the US, and the UK.

Blair Davie’s story is one of perseverance. After introducing a flurry of exciting singles, including the highly-praised ‘Stairs’, ‘Platform 10’, and ‘Him, Hymn’, London-based Scottish born and raised singer-songwriter Blair Davie has been tipped as one of the most anticipated new artists on the rise right now. A seasoned performer, Blair has been writing music and fronting bands since a teenager. Blair’s rise can be pinpointed to the honesty and strength of songwriting, as well as having one of those rare voices that has the power to speak to our very souls. This talent has not gone unnoticed, with Blair receiving Amazon Music’s UK Rising Star Award, alongside an Ivor Novello Award nomination, both last year at aged just 23.
