It’s the best time to be Callum Beattie. After selling out a huge sold-out arena date at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro (a gig which saw The Scotsman describe him as “a Caledonian Sam Fender”), his 2026 live plans are upscaling too with a massive headline show at Edinburgh Castle confirmed alongside a headline set at the Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival. Meanwhile, his new album, ‘INDI’, looks set to be the most impactful record of his career when it is released on January 23rd. His latest step towards the album comes as he shares the new single ‘Pins and Needles’. Listen HERE.
‘Pins and Needles’ sits at the crossroads between Bruce Springsteen in prime stadium rock mode with the layered textures and contemporary touch of The Killers. Yet Callum’s voice and vulnerability has its own identity, the power of his vocal accentuating the pain within his words. It’s a song that really captures the evolution of his recent years, as he has moved from the pop-leaning singer-songwriter of the past to someone compelled to share his truths for audiences that just grow and grow.
Together with his recent singles, ‘Pins and Needles’ further proves that Callum has raised the bar with ‘INDI’ – his first album as an independent artist. ‘Two Pretenders’ was the album’s kickstart moment, a song which was playlisted on Radio 2, highlighted as Virgin Radio’s Track of the Week, and was boosted by an ambitious narrative video. He has also exposed his inner emotions on subsequent tracks, exploring issues of mental health and intoxicant escapism on ‘Birthday’ and then revealing the loneliness he experienced in a new city with ‘It Always Rains In Glasgow’. And there will be much more for fans to connect with when ‘INDI’ drops.
‘INDI’ is available to pre-order HERE. His official store offers three vinyl variants: a picture disc, a signed yellow and orange swirl, and a coke bottle green.
