Following a breakout start to 2025 with the release of Do It Again and Take It Or Leave It, Newcastle-born artist Charlie Floyd returns with his most personal and powerful release yet: ‘2000’, out now. The track marks Floyd’s third single of the year and sets the tone for his forthcoming debut EP, landing in August.
A self-produced anthem that fuses reflective lyrics with infectious hooks, 2000 is a motivational statement wrapped in shimmering indie-pop. Originally written about a personal situation, the song evolved into something broader – an urgent reminder not to get complacent, to chase what matters, and to define life on your own terms.
‘2000’ is the final single before Floyd drops his debut EP – a four-track statement piece built from nearly a decade of writing, life experience, and musical exploration. “The EP is a pivotal moment in my career,” he says. “What ties it together is 9 years of songwriting, 23 years of life experiences and 20 odd years of musical influence.”
The EP pulses with positivity and summer energy, shaped by years of evolving ideas and newly sparked inspiration. Some songs date back to Floyd’s teenage years, like the chorus on ‘Calls’- written at age 17 – while others like Take It Or Leave It came together just weeks before studio sessions.
As he criss-crosses the country playing major festivals, Charlie Floyd returns to his roots with an intimate headline show at The Engine Room in North Shields. Just minutes from where he grew up, this performance offers fans a rare opportunity to see Floyd up close and personal in his hometown.
This special hometown show on Friday July 25 will feature Floyd performing solo in a new one-man band setup. Incorporating synths, loops, and transitional interludes, the set is designed to be immersive, experimental, and full of energy.
Joining him on the bill are two standout local artists: Robyn McLeod, formerly of Rushbonds, known for her commanding vocals and sharp songwriting; and Thomas Seagrave, Floyd’s former bandmate in Baltic, now stepping out as a solo artist for the very first time.
