A sultry slice of soothing pop, Destiny marks a defiant and liberating new chapter for global superstar Ellie Goulding. Produced by Jack Rochon (Kehlani, Beyoncé) and co-written with Kurtis Wells and Livvi Franc, the single blends lush, atmospheric textures with Goulding’s signature ethereal vocals to create something both intimate and expansive. Later this week Ellie will release the new video for Destiny, directed by Floria Sigismondi, fans can tune in to the premiere on Friday.

Teased on socials earlier this month, the release has already ignited excitement among fans, heralding what promises to be one of Ellie’s most powerful and transformative eras yet which will see plenty more music released next year.

Speaking about the track Ellie explains “Recording this was like a catharsis, it made me feel so much better – like the prize was me all along. Instead of putting my everything into these men, this song was my first feeling of straight-up escape and empowerment. When I heard the track I was in love with it. The idea of adding the choir and strings at the end was for it to become a triumphant moment of freedom like jumping off a cliff. To me it sounds like surrender. It sounds like let it happen. That’s why it is called Destiny, it sounds like what will be will be and accepting it.”

Celebrating 15 years since her debut album Lights, to date Ellie has celebrated 10 platinum singles, four #1 albums, two BRIT Awards, a GRAMMY Award nomination and a Golden Globe nomination. She has sold over 44 million albums and 442 million singles, amassing 55 billion streams worldwide. Ellie is also one of the most streamed female artists on Spotify with over 15 billion streams.

Stay tuned for more news from Ellie Goulding in the coming months.
