The album’s focus track, “Roses (Now’s the Time)” is an introspective reflection on her healing journey and a tribute to the trailblazers who paved the way before her.
Co-written by Estelle and produced by Keith Harris, Stay Alta captures Estelle’s journey of breaking free, healing, and embracing the beauty of personal transformation. Harnessing influences from Jamiroquai, N’dea Davenport, Soul II Soul, Loose Ends, Robbie Williams, Beverley Knight, Mica Paris, Martha Wash, Rosie Gaines, and Sylvester, as well as iconic figures like Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers, and Roberta Flack, the album delivers a vibrant and timeless sound that is distinctly her own.
“Stay Alta is about remembering who you are, rising above the noise, and choosing joy — even when it’s hard. This album was born out of a period of deep reflection and realignment, where I had to get really honest about what brings me peace, what lifts me up, and what I’m no longer willing to carry,” says It’s a celebration of transformation — of letting go, of returning to self, and of honoring the power in starting over. I want this music to move people, both literally and emotionally, and remind us all that there’s beauty in the rebuild, and power in staying elevated.”
Leading up to the release of Stay Alta, Estelle unveiled a sequence of singles including “Oh I,” “Fire” featuring JOI, “Love On Love” featuring D-Nice and “New Direction” featuring LaRussell and Keyon Harrold.
