Emerging as a vibrant force in Manchester’s indie music scene, Florentenes have today released their energetic new single, ‘Miss Understands’. Listen here.

The track marks the final single from their highly anticipated second EP, HOMEGROWN, due Friday 16th May 2025, and continues the band’s momentum as one of the most exciting new acts of the year.

Bursting with vibrant guitar lines and infectious rhythm, ‘Miss Understands’ is a feel-good indie anthem that captures the electricity of a band truly on the rise. It’s the sound of indie at its most confident—bright, bold, and made to be played loud.

Speaking on the single, the band explained that “the song was written when Will was just 17, sitting in his room trying to come up with something upbeat. It came together in about an hour and flowed pretty naturally. He’s said it was inspired by Bob Dylan, and he wanted to blend in some of the best elements from a few of the band’s other songs. The lyrics came together through a mix of spontaneous ideas and creative instinct”

Having sold out their debut headline show at Manchester’s iconic Deaf Institute on 12th March and shared stages with Jamie Webster, The Royston Club, and Sundara Karma on their farewell tour, Florentenes have already established themselves as a force to be reckoned with. Earlier this year, the band were selected for Abbie McCarthy’s Future Karma series and were highlighted as ‘Ones To Watch’ for 2025, performing at The Lower Third in London. Their debut EP garnered impressive editorial support from Spotify, landing spots on Hot New Bands, Shockwave, and We Are Manchester.

Florentenes have recently completed a run of live shows, including support slots with The Guestlist and Red Rum Club throughout March, and they’ve already secured festival appearances at Feel The Noise 2025, Liverpool Sound City, Neighbourhood Weekender, Golden Touch festival, and more. The band have just had three support shows supporting indie legends Razorlight in Southampton, Sheffield and Birmingham.
