The acclaimed NYC-born and raised artist, performer, dancer and model Infinite Coles serves up his killer 4th single ‘DMs’ today, ahead of his much-anticipated debut album ‘SweetFace Killah’ to be released on 5th December on Don’t Sleep/PIAS.
The ice cold new track ‘DMs’ is an explosive, high energy, stomping afro-house cut that tells the haters in his DMs to shut the hell up.
The diabolical video for ‘DMs’ has been directed by Infinite’s best friend and key collaborator Jazelle, aka model and artist Ugly Worldwide. The video takes storytelling and vogue-ballroom culture to a whole new level, as we see Infinite lounging with a blunt, before he is surrounded by black clad dancers, DMing him and voguing. As the lyrics “I’m only human” drop, he transforms from a man into a powerful, fierce laser-eyed being. We see him unapologetically defiant, loud and flamboyant, dressed for war, with fast paced cuts back to him screaming into the phone.
Infinite Coles is becoming one of New York’s most mesmerising modern music expressionists and debut album ‘SweetFace Killah’ is a collection of 12 tracks that showcase Infinite’s innate vocal gifts, and fearless approach to lyricism and songwriting – despite his turbulent path, traversing personal battles and vulnerabilities growing up as a queer African American and a member of a rap dynasty. Infinite is authentically expressing himself fearlessly and joyously, free from fear of judgement, teaming up with the finest producer Zach Witness (Doechii, Frank Ocean, Erykah Badu) to deliver a feast of sonic experimentations, while channelling his deep connection to the vibrant Vogue-Ballroom culture and identity.
‘DMs’ follows up the incredible double single ‘SweetFaceKillah’/ ‘Dad & I’ released in September, the deeply personal third offering with both tracks fearlessly exploring joy, pain, love, anger and resilience, expressing each side of Infinite’s complicated relationship with his father, the rap icon Ghostface Killah of Wu Tang Clan, who Infinite is estranged from and hasn’t seen or spoken to in over 10 years.
