Having initially combined forces to make the Metal Box – Rebuilt In Dub album, released in 2021, post punk pairing Jah Wobble and Jon Klein have maintained their association both live and creating new music in the studio. This has now resulted in Automated Paradise, their third album together and their debut for Dimple Discs as a recording duo, to be released on 27 March 2026.

Jah Wobble (born John Wardle) is a renowned bass guitarist and vocalist from East London. He was the original bassist in Public Image Ltd (PiL) in the late 1970s but left the band in 1980, a year after the release of the iconic Metal Box, the band’s second album.

He had already begun developing a solo career before leaving PiL and formed The Invaders Of The Heart in 1982, while the early 80s also saw him collaborate with Holger Czukay and Jaki Liebezeit from Can and The Edge from U2. He has since worked with Ginger Baker, Bjork, Brian Eno, Massive Attack, Sinead O’Connor, Pharoah Sanders, Lonelady and his wife Zi Lan Liao, a Chinese guzheng player and harpist. He reunited with PiL guitarist Keith Levene in 2012 to record the album Yin & Yang and perform a series of Metal Box In Dub shows. His acclaimed autobiography Memoirs Of A Geezer: Music, Life, Mayhem was published by Serpent’s Tail in 2009 and reissued in expanded form as Dark Luminosity by Faber & Faber in 2024.

Jon Klein is a guitarist and producer best known for being a member of Siouxsie and the Banshees from 1987 until 1994, a period that saw the release of the acclaimed albums Peepshow, Superstition and The Rapture. He had originally been in the Bristol-based Europeans before forming glam-goth act Specimen and relocating to London where he was involved with The Batcave night club.

Automated Paradise follows the re-release last year of Jah Wobble’s The Usual Suspects album which was originally released in 2017 and featured new recordings of some of Jah Wobble’s finest solo material alongside tracks from the catalogues of The Invaders Of The Heart and PiL, representing an incredible and genre-busting career that spans over 40 years. Unavailable for almost a decade, the original record now changes hands at collector prices.
