Johnny Blue Skies & the Dark Clouds, along with the label High Top Mountain Records, have joined forces with Atlantic Music Group’s Atlantic Outpost for the forthcoming release of Mutiny After Midnight. Arriving March 13, 2026, on vinyl, CD and cassette only, the new album follows Johnny Blue Skies’ 2024 debut, Passage Du Desir, and the venture marks the latest move in a career that will continue to defy industry stereotypes through a catalog of songs built on poetic songwriting, constant evolution, and the democratic brotherhood of a band.
Following a series of self-releases on High Top Mountain, and Elektra Records for SOUND & FURY, Johnny Blue Skies & the Dark Clouds’ upcoming album brings a return to Atlantic, which backed the game-changing A Sailor’s Guide to Earth in 2016. The reunion is one defined by “new leadership and a new vision,” says Johnny Blue Skies:
“This is a new and very different Atlantic Records than my last go-around. Mostly, I’m very excited and honored to be working with my dear friend Ian Cripps, and to finally bring to fruition a vision we initially shared together over ten years ago. I wrote words to what is happening in the world and my life in real time, and played with a group of musicians I deeply love and respect. Together, we made an album that is very fun and will hopefully offer some relief from darkness in the world.”
Mutiny After Midnight was produced by Johnny Blue Skies, with musical contributions by the Dark Clouds, and was recorded at Easy Eye Sound Studios. Centered firmly on groove, each song was written in the moment, on-the-spot. “There’s a simple goal we as a band set out to achieve: to make a dance record,” says Johnny Blue Skies.
