BRIT and 3x GRAMMY-nominated Leroy Clampitt today begins a new era with indie-alternative single ‘I’m Going To Die’. Performed, produced and recorded by Leroy himself, the track begins with bright piano and rolling drums, as he evocatively opens with the lyrics “I’m going to die… someday”.

Speaking on the single, Leroy says: “I was quietly collecting songs for a couple of years. All of these songs came to me out of the blue while I was in the shower, cooking, driving around. I just remember singing ‘I’m Going To Die’, then having a space, and then ‘Someday’. I thought, ahh that’s such an interesting thing because you start with this very crazy statement, then you’re actually just saying something very normal.”

Alongside the single, Leroy has released a music video made by visual collaborator Samuel Kristofski (Tame Impala, The Rare Bird). It introduces listeners to the story’s central character, Leroy himself, built with a veil of anonymity in the form of a reel to reel tape machine. Meandering through LA, feeling and emotion is delivered through movements and the settings they find themselves in. Without giving much away, Leroy invites the viewer into his world, and hints playfully at what’s to come.

With more music on the horizon, Leroy’s arrival as a solo offering promises a wealth of impressive musicianship, alongside loveable songwriting.

Leroy’s music is the first release on his newly-established independent label, Sorry Susan Records.

Speaking on the label, Leroy says: “The plan for the Sorry Susan label is to leave a sonic trail of music I love and music I have loved making. Bits and pieces that in 10, 20, 30 years a listener can stumble upon and trace mine & the artist’s steps through the landscapes of the Sorry Susan catalogue”.
