New Zealand born, LA-based singer-producer-songwriter Leroy Clampitt today releases new single, ‘Easy Daisy’. This follows his recent debut solo single ‘I’m Going To Die’, both taken from an upcoming album. It arrives via his own newly-formed record label, Sorry Susan Records. Listen here.
Speaking on the track, Leroy says, “Easy Daisy floats in a dreamy soft-disco haze, reflecting on the quiet sting of loving someone who may be a little too luminous to hold onto.”
The track is carried by a steady, understated pocket and washed in warm tape-machine textures. ‘Easy Daisy’ features tenor saxophone and flute courtesy of fellow GRAMMY multiple nominee Jacob Scesney. “Let me down easy, Daisy, you don’t want to see me cry” leads the chorus, as Leroy invites listeners to join him at the next stop of the new world he is creating.
Leroy also adds that the phrase ‘easy Daisy’ will be known to all New Zealanders born before the year 2000, and is in part a reference to a classic beer commercial!
This track follows in the footsteps of Leroy’s first solo offering, ‘I’m Going To Die’, released alongside a music video made by visual collaborator Samuel Kristofski (Tame Impala, The Rare Bird).
With more music on the horizon, Leroy’s arrival as a solo offering promises a wealth of impressive musicianship, alongside loveable songwriting.
Leroy’s music is the first release on his newly-established independent label, Sorry Susan Records.
Speaking on the label, Leroy says: “The plan for the Sorry Susan label is to leave a sonic trail of music I love and music I have loved making. Bits and pieces that in 10, 20, 30 years a listener can stumble upon and trace mine & the artist’s steps through the landscapes of the Sorry Susan catalogue”
