Internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter Riva Taylor returns with her most vibrant and genre-defying project to date: Keeping It Together, a five-track EP that weaves timeless pop melodies with sultry Latin grooves and cinematic jazz textures.
Blending the cool sophistication of artists like Astrud Gilberto and Sade with a distinctly contemporary sensibility, Keeping It Together is a cosmopolitan collection that captures Riva Taylor at her most assured. Infused with Latin rhythms and colours, the EP draws on the golden-era elegance of Bacharach and the emotive richness of Streisand (who Taylor supported at BST in Hyde Park previously) – not as retro homage, but as ingredients in a fresh, modern and international sound that feels both timeless and forward-looking.
Taylor recorded the EP with Marcus Foster (Ellie Goulding, GIVĒON), having previously worked with Craigie Dodds (Amy Winehouse, Sugababes) and Juan Luis Ayala (Los Rumberos) in Mexico City. The result of these collaborations in recent years and on Keeping It Together is a globe-spanning sound that reflects Taylor’s deepening connection to Latin culture, and her own jazz roots.
The project builds on the success of Taylor’s recent Latin American breakthrough with “Cubano,” her 2023 bilingual collaboration with Mexican duo Los Rumberos, which became a surprise hit in Mexico. That collaboration opened the door to a new musical language – one that blends English lyricism with rhythms like bossa nova, cumbia (a very specific Colombian beat), and rumba, without losing sight of her theatrical pop foundation.
From the bossa-drenched warmth of “Great Unknown” to the haunting melancholy of “Valentine Road,” Taylor’s new work feels both vintage and current—an evolution of lounge-pop infused with Latin colour and modern storytelling. The EP’s title track, Keeping It Together, is a modern classic standout, while “Hey Ho!” channels the playful swing of old school jazz clubs.
Keeping It Together is available now on all major platforms.
