UK superstar Tinie Tempah returns with his follow-up single ‘Closer’, a high-energy track that marries the fluidity of liquid D&B with jungle’s raw intensity. The track features the extraordinary Abi Flynn, whose vocals bring raw honesty and depth, turning the song into a story of love, commitment, and surrender, with former Jamiroquai member Stuart Zender on the bass. ‘Closer’ follows the explosive success of ‘Eat It Up’ with Skepsis, which marked Tinie’s return to music in 8 years. Listen to the track here.
Abi Flynn, a prolific songwriter whose voice became famous with her Splice vocal pack that’s heard across multi-platinum dance hits, has often gone uncredited throughout her career. Having had her first credited UK Top 40 hit this year, Abi Flynn now joins Tinie Tempah as a primary artist on ‘Closer’. Abi has previously sung on records such as So Much Love (D.O.D) and Here In Your Arms (Nathan Dawe). From battling cancer at 26 to becoming a mother, her voice brings rare strength and vulnerability, perfectly complementing Tinie’s storytelling.
Abi adds: “Being part of Closer has been such an empowering experience for me. The song captures that vulnerable moment of surrender in love, and I wanted my vocals to reflect both the fragility and the strength that comes with it. Collaborating with Tinie on a track that blends energy with real emotion feels incredibly special, and I’m excited to share my voice in a way that feels fully seen and celebrated.”
The track, produced by Matt Early and Jason Cambridge of A@E, also marks the continuation of the newly launched ‘Last Night Out’, a new campaign launched with the Night-Time Industries Association. The movement is focused on reviving the UK’s declining nightlife scene and encouraging real-world, physical connections in an increasingly digital world. Inspired by seeing the younger generation grow up surrounded by screens, Tinie Tempah is using his platform to encourage joy, movement and community. Through music, live events, and creative activations, ‘Last Night Out’ calls on young people to rediscover the dancefloor.
At the current rate of closures, UK nightclubs are projected to disappear entirely by 31st December 2029, highlighting the urgency behind the campaign. The track itself is built to energise and provoke movement. It is a sonic call to action that mirrors the campaign’s drive to bring people back into nightlife spaces.
