Fresh off the back of doing Edinburghs comedy festival Adam Rowe kindly gave us a few mins of his time for a quick chat.

1. Thanks for your time Adam. You excited about the tour dates coming up? What can comedy fans expect from the show?

Yeah, I’m super excited! I’m playing some of my absolute favourite venues & cities, so I can’t wait to get started. People can expect what they always get from me; a few personal stories and the occasional ill-informed opinion.

2. You’ve been doing stand-up since 2010, do you have a particular favourite/memorable heckle during that time?

Not really, the large majority of heckles are tedious. It’s always someone in  large group, who is used to being centre of attention in the office and all of a sudden, somebody else is, so they feel obliged to get involved – it’s never advisable to do that though, when you’re pitting your wits against a professional comedian who has something in their hand to amplify their voice and you don’t. So if you’re going to come to the tour & heckle, make it memorable so that I have something to say next time I’m asked this question.

3. What was it that made you want to get into stand-up? Who are your influences?

I was always obsessed with stand-up from a young age, when my Mum showed me an old Richard Pryor special. Early on, my influences were people like Jason Manford & Kevin Bridges, but over the past few years I’ve become more inspired by American comics like Bill Burr & Dave Chappelle. It changes all the time.

4. What do your family/friends think of your choice of career?

They were a bit worried when I first said I was giving it a go, in case it went horribly wrong. I’m pretty sure that would have been the end of my social life. But now that it’s going well, they’re very supportive and they’re regularly at my shows in Liverpool.

5. How would you describe your style of comedy?

It’s just things that have happened to me and what I think about things that have happened to other people.

6. When you tell people what you do, do you get sick of the “go on tell us a joke” response?

I never tell anyone. If I’m in a taxi and the driver asks me what I do for a living then I just say I work in a bar. One of the reasons I do comedy, is because every day is a bit different so it’s not very repetitive, but what is repetitive is the conversations about stand-up – so I do everything I can to avoid them.

7. Go on… tell us a joke…

Absolutely not. Come and see the show!! I can’t, my jokes don’t work written down, they’re often long stories that require context and tone of voice – they don’t work on paper!

8. Curveball question, you walk out on stage to see your childhood crush sat in the front row. What do you say to them?

I really don’t think Geri Halliwell will ever be sat on the front row of one of my shows.

9. If you could sit down with your biggest inspiration and ask them one question, what would that question be?

Are you happy?

If they are, then it’s all good. If they’re not, then I’ll have to find a new inspiration. Being happy is what it’s all about.

10. Once the tour has ended what are your plans for 2019?

Write a new show and tour again. The grind never stops.
