SPIKE ISLAND: THE RESURRECTION, is being rescheduled to a new date in the late Summer.

The celebration marking the 30th Anniversary of the iconic Stone Roses gig at Spike Island in Widnes, Cheshire, will now take place on Saturday 12th September 2020.

Taking into account a number of factors including the public health crisis, plus pressures on local resources and other events scheduled in September, after much consideration festival organisers have decided this new date is the fairest and safest fixture for the festival to go forward. A statement from the organisers, Lightbulb Festivals, states:

“After some lengthy discussions with the local authority, Cheshire police and listening to the thoughts of lots of existing ticket holders, we’ve made the decision to move Spike Island – The Resurrection to Saturday 12th September.

It simply didn’t make sense for so many ticket holders to have to choose between options and miss out on other events, not to mention the added strain on public transport and Cheshire police.

We hope you understand our decision, we just want as many of you as possible to be able to attend the incredible day we have planned for you, celebrating the 30th anniversary of one of the most legendary gigs of all time.”

All tickets for the original event planned on 16th May 2020/5th September 2020 will remain valid for the rescheduled date of Saturday 12th September 2020. For those unable to attend the new fixture, refunds will be available from point of purchase.

With its festival licence fully approved, Halton Borough Council has given the green light to: SPIKE ISLAND: THE RESURRECTION; a festival celebrating 30 years since The Stone Roses’ era-defining gig of 1990.

Taking place upon the original site it took place, SPIKE ISLAND: THE RESURRECTION is a one day festival that will pay homage to one of the greatest concerts of all time. With a headline set by THE CLONE ROSES (the UK’s No.1 tribute to The Stone Roses), this celebratory day of music will aim to re-capture the sights, sounds and atmosphere of what was a momentous day in musical history. The event will also see performances from other top-tier tribute acts including: OAS-IS, THE SMITHS LTD, HAPPY MONDAZE, THE JAMES EXPERIENCE, and TRUE ORDER; plus a number of original faces from the iconic Madchester scene including CLINT BOON (Inspiral Carpets man), ANDY (808 STATE), DAVE BOOTH (Hacienda DJ), MC TUNES (Dust Junkys).

Making history in its own right, ‘Spike Island – The Resurrection’ will be the only live performance to have been held at the Widnes site since the Stone Roses headlined in 1990. The event is also on course to break records as the biggest tribute-themed festival the world has ever seen!

With 75% sold already and over 5000 tickets snapped-up on its first day alone, the public reception to the festival has been nothing short of phenomenal and organisers would like to thank those who have shown their support for the event already. Offering his approval for the upcoming event, Halton Borough Cllr Rob Polhill said:

“Following the announcement that an events licence has been granted to Lightbulb Festivals Ltd, I am delighted that 30 years after the Stone Roses played at Spike Island a re-creation of that concert featuring tribute band The Clone Roses will take place on that site”

He added: “That legendary gig is still talked about fondly all these years later and we know from the many enquiries that we have had over the years that many people have wanted to see it repeated. Our park at Spike Island is ideal for this kind of event and our officers will now be working closely with Lightbulb Festivals Ltd to ensure we have a successful and safe event for the fans to enjoy.”

30 years on THE CLONE ROSES invite you to re-capture the magic of that most famous of gigs that promises to be a Second Coming like no other…
