The Courteeners played their biggest ever headline gig in Heaton Park, just a stones throw from where they grew up in Middleton, along with fellow Mancunian james, The DMA’s and Pale Waves. 50,000 people gathered for the home coming gig, despite the wet muddy weather. Nothing was going to put these fans off. Their energetic set sees yet more flares going off in the crowd, I have no idea where these kids hide these things to get them in, one can only wonder! Confetti is blasted into the crowd as the band open with ‘Are You In Love With A Notion’ but asdie from the flying bottles and all the old favourite hits, the band played two tracks from their forthcoming album. A 12 song set list finished the night on a high.

james was the main support of the night. Playing some of their biggest indie hits that are guaranteed to get the crowd singing along, ‘Sit Down is an absolute classic. Tim Booth fluidly dances around the stage in a manner that only he can carry off, and it wouldn’t be a james concert if Tim Booth didn’t end up in the crowd at least once during the set. james have the ability to whip the crowd into a frenzy just in time for the headliners to be choppered in from the Isle of Wight Festival where they have been performing earlier that day.

Completeing the line up for the day were the Australian 3 piece rock band the DMA’s and fellow Mancunians Pale Waves, who were the first up, kicking off a day of brilliant music.
