Rising star Abby Roberts has released emotional indie pop track ‘volatile’, listen here. The song presents Abby’s stunning soft vocals as they juxtapose the confusion and pain felt throughout the lyrics while she sings about the experience of a friendship coming to an end. ‘volatile’ is released alongside a visualiser, that you can check out below. Today’s release was produced by Rob Milton (Holly Humberstone, The 1975) with Noah Terefe, and mixed by Nathan Phillips (Omar Apollo, Remi Wolf, Jean Dawson).

Commenting on the new single, Abby says: “‘volatile’ for me was all about getting this pent-up anger and frustration that was caused by the reckless behaviour an ex-friend off of my chest. I felt sick of my life revolving around these dramatic and stressful situations that this person was pulling me into, and ‘volatile’ was the manifestation of me cutting this person off – it felt very cathartic putting that feeling into lyrics and venting through music”.

‘volatile’ follows ‘Imposter Syndrome’, a dreamy 80s inspired indie track produced by Sammy Witte (Harry Styles’ co-writer and producer) and written by Abby alongside friend and mentor Halsey. Released in August, ‘Imposter Syndrome’ marked the start of a new era for Abby with it being her first musical offering since 2022’s debut EP Ashes. The pop rock EP included tracks ‘Paramaniac’, ‘Pink Champagne’, and ‘Video Girl’ and perfectly demonstrated Abby’s musical abilities to her audience.

About Abby Roberts

Her laid-back melancholic debut EP Ashes gained approval from Halsey, who later asked Abby to support them on tour.

Since then, as Abby’s career has rocketed. Abby has since smashed performances at Romania’s Summer In The City 2023, Brighton’s Great Escape Festival and Reading & Leeds Festival and has previously opened up for the likes of beabadoobe, Pale Waves, The Marias, and, most recently, Gus Dapperton. In August Abby Roberts returned with indie track ‘Imposter Syndrome’, co-created with Halsey, presenting her inventiveness, relatability, and star quality.
