Rising independent pop powerhouse Aistè has released new single ‘Mojo’ and official music video. The slick and addictive track, written and produced by Aistè, is accompanied by a futuristic, Matrix-style short film also directed by Aistè herself.

Shot in London just before lockdown, the video for ‘Mojo’ sees Aistè fight both a former lover and the organization that pitted them against each other: looking the part as a transfixing incarnation of Killing Eve’s Villanelle, Aistè put her years of Muay Thai practice to use, and choreographed all the fight scenes herself. The short film mixes elements of cult sci-fi and psychological thriller as it reflects the song’s message of breaking free from any restraints, societal and personal, and begin anew.

MOJO is an impulse,” says Aistè. “It is spiritualistic, sexual, powerful, animalistic, raw, intelligent power. Touching upon the very extreme edges of our being. Walking the thin line between life and death carrying the vitality drive in it. It is also a clash of two antagonist cultures. I wrote it because all of this has been in me for way too long. There seemed to be no available medium to express it. So I had to invent my own, highly influenced by the Matrix and Baudrillard’s philosophy.”

In occasion of the release, Aistè wrote a full comic book to delve deeper into the ideas behind the track and explain the backstory of the main characters.

Mojo’ follows the release of recent single ‘Money is Life, the video for which was nominated in the Best Director category at the 2020 KlipVid Awards: the empowering anti-capitalistic lyrics, sarcastic tone and girl-power stance bring voice to the same notion of freedom, the idiosyncrasies of modern life, and the question at the forefront of both: “Is this what our dreams are made of?”

After testing the waters with previous tracks ‘My Only Friend’, ‘Say When’, and ‘This Will Happen’, as well as the bewitching ‘Blue Dawn’, Aistè now breathes a new creative fire: she’s completely in control, and she’s ready to let her voice be heard.
