Amazon Music announced a new episode of its docu-performance series “Songline,” featuring Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams. Recorded at the historic Church Studios in North London, the new “Songline” installment finds Abrams revisiting songs from her chart-topping album, Daughter from Hell, through intimate performances and candid conversations with longtime collaborator Aaron Dessner about the stories behind their music and six-year creative partnership.
The first video from the episode—a stripped-down performance of “Broke My Heart”— is available now, while an Amazon Music-exclusive album featuring Abrams’ reimagined “Songline” performances will be released on August 28. The full “Songline” docu-performance film premieres September 10.
“‘Songline’ gave me the chance to sit with these songs in a completely different way. When you strip everything back, you remember why you wrote them in the first place,” said Gracie Abrams. “It was really just me and my band in a room together, letting the songs breathe. There’s something scary and beautiful about that kind of intimacy.”
“Songline” is a series dedicated to the craft of songwriting and invites artists to reimagine their music in a stripped-down, intimate setting. Each performance is intercut with in-depth interviews with the artist, giving songwriters the opportunity to demystify the songwriting process and share their personal and creative journeys with fans.
Aaron Dessner, who has written and produced alongside Abrams since 2020, appears in the episode to discuss their collaborative process: “It’s incredibly real and vulnerable and authentic — there’s nothing contrived about it. It’s the humanity in her writing. She gives voice to things. It’s very cathartic for people to listen to, and I think it’s why she’s connected so much with her fans, because it’s so personal and so intimate. The best work we’ve done is pushing ourselves to be more ambitious and go deeper.”
Daughter from Hell debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 and topped charts in the UK, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Netherlands, Ireland, and New Zealand, marking the fifth largest debut for a female artist and sixth largest pop debut of 2026. Abrams will support the album with “The Look at My Life Tour,” a 64-date tour beginning December 2 in Denver and continuing through Europe in 2027.
