Amber Mark releases a brand-new isolation-inspired demo ‘Waiting’ as part of her ongoing series of covers and originals to be released over the coming weeks titled ‘Covered-19’. The series sees Amber release a new track entirely self-produced and recorded from her NYC flat every fortnight during the lockdown alongside a home-made visual and started with a cover of Nirvana’s ‘Heart-Shaped Box’ – watch the video for ‘Waiting (Demo)’ HERE.

‘Waiting’ is a stunning downtempo ode to devotion throughout these testing times that harks back to Amber’s debut EP 3:33am. Together with its self-made video, the demo serves as a powerful reminder for what can still be achieved creatively despite the current challenges we all face.

Amber has been keen to remain productive during the current global pandemic and resulting self-isolation; “For me, making music in the Covid-19 quarantine has probably been the only positive to come out of a tragedy like this. All the pressure I normally feel when working on music is lifted. And I just have this ‘f**k it’ mentality. People get to really see you in your most bare state and vice versa. That’s the beauty in the music I’m making right now. It’s just me whipping up whatever I’m feeling. Keeping it minimal has been the key mentality for me and just having fun with it. I used to stress so much about visuals and the message I was sending with my music. I’ve learned a lot about myself already during the quarantine. And hope to keep this mentality going when all of this is finally over.”

Alongside ‘Waiting (Demo) and ‘Heart-Shaped Box’ Amber also recently released a short cover of The Who’s classic track ‘The Seeker’ on her socials which earned a nod of approval from none other than Pete Townshend, who commented “I’m in shock. So cool. Thank you. You made this your own.”.

The ‘Covered-19’ series follows recent single ‘Generous’; a woozy, bumping bedroom jam laced with strings sampled from Henry Mancini’s ‘Lujon’. The track has already been streamed more than 2.5 million times alongside support from BBC Radio 1 and playlisting at 1Xtra, while Amber is also a face of Calvin Klein’s new spring campaign. ‘Generous’ came hot on the heels of a stellar 2019 for Amber that saw her rack up over 100 million combined streams, play a sold-out UK and EU tour including London’s Scala and have singles ‘Mixer’ and ‘What If’ playlisted at BBC 1Xtra, while ‘Mixer’ was named one of NPR’s Best Songs of 2019.
