Rag’n’Bone Man is the latest star to take part in Apple Music’s Home Session series. His session includes three stripped-back tracks – new versions of recent singles ‘Alone’ and ‘Crossfire’, which are taken from his second album ‘Life by Misadventure’, plus a cover of Bangor singer-songwriter Foy Vance’s ‘She Burns’.
The Sussex singer-songwriter and his band took the chance to experiment in this session. He says: “When we record live, we like to explore different arrangements and tempos to give every performance its own thing. In front of a live audience, it is kind of important that you keep some of the original arrangement—so they can recognise it from the album—but in this scenario it feels totally free. It’s almost like producing the song all over again. Covering Foy Vance is a great honour—he’s one of the reasons I started writing myself.”
