Minneapolis-based producer and songwriter Brotherkenzie, the solo musical project of Nathan Stocker, releases “DIE BROKE.” It is the second single off his upcoming album NATHAN that arrives 26th August via Thirty Tigers. “DIE BROKE” is a succinct and sticky track that hears Stocker grappling with a nihilistic outlook: if people can’t take their things with them, they may as well die broke. Listen HERE.

“DIE BROKE” follows “GET ON IT,” which explores his existential dread. The album is a deftly-produced blend of fuzzed out guitars and quippy lyrics along with his silky smooth vocals.

On NATHAN, Stocker fearlessly explores what would happen if you listen to, and obey, your demons, if you lean into heathen ideals, if you turn toward self-loathing. The result is catharsis, an observant account of growing a new self. Stocker wrote the 12 new songs on NATHAN between March and November 2020, recording and producing the entire album with friend and Baby Boys collaborator Caleb Hinz in Minneapolis, MN in between sold out world tours with his other projects. This marks Stocker’s third full length release as Brotherkenzie and follows 2020’s BIG WHAT. Pre-order/pre-save HERE.

This autumn, Stocker will embark on a string of dates in the US as Brotherkenzie with more to be announced. Buy tickets here: brotherkenzie.com

On June 21, 2020, brotherkenzie live-streamed on Instagram for five hours, sharing several unreleased songs in the process. Although his debut full length had only been released less than a month earlier, there was already talk about his next project due to the sheer number of songs Nathan had recorded.

It wasn’t until two years later that this project was announced, with the release of “Get on It.” The bulk of the featured tracks appeared in this live stream, although some were not included.
