Trailblazing artist, carolesdaughter (aka Thea Taylor), who V Magazine recently praised as “[spearheading] the next generation of alt-pop music,” releases her latest alternative anthem today titled “please put me in a medically induced coma” accompanied by an electric, modern-meets-cyber punk official music video. Watch HERE. Listen HERE.

The video was directed by Anastasia Lebedeva Delmark (Shaun Ross, Chazzy L), who takes the viewer along Thea’s journey of her own emotional hell, diving into her subconsciousness while showcasing her iconic style. Penned by Thea, the track, as well as the video, explores her experiences with mental health, and the ways in which she is sometimes able, or unable to cope.

Thea says, “’please put me in a medically induced coma’ was the anthem my friends and I would sing when I was in treatment. I wrote it when I was there, and we would just sing it all the time. It’s one of my favorite songs to sing because of the lyrics. ‘I can’t hurt if I’m in a dream’ is one of my favorite lines because it captures the feeling of needing an escape.”

“please put me in a medically induced coma” follows the release of “Trailer Trash” in April, which NYLON supported by calling Thea a “confident creator.” KERRANG! proclaimed that she is “alternative music’s compelling new star.”

After buzzing with early releases, “cold bathroom floor” and “my mother wants me dead,” carolesdaughter wrote viral success “Violent” over a somber beat laden with 808s and creaky acoustic guitar. She uploaded it to Soundcloud, and it quickly racked up two million streams. Now, the track has over 320 million streams across all platforms.  It picked up plays at Radio 1 from Annie Mac, Mollie King’s ‘Best New Pop’ and Jack Saunders’ ‘Tune of the Week’. Plus further praise came from Sunday Times Culture, The Line of Best Fit, Wonderland, Spindle and an array of streaming highlights including the cover and #1 position in the notorious Misfits 2.0 playlist on Spotify.

This summer, Thea will embark on a headline ‘Parking Lot’ tour across the US, in advance of opening for Coheed and Cambria & The Used this autumn, as well as for Machine Gun Kelly’s anticipated ‘Tickets To My Downfall’ tour.
