Canadian born, London based pop singer Cate releases disco-infused, empowering feminist anthem ‘U Want Me’, via Believe – stream here. The single also comes alongside a glowing music video that is available to watch here.

Glistening with vibrant strings sharp enough to dazzle mirror balls everywhere, U Want Me is an all-encompassing 80’s inspired disco track dedicated to the empowerment of women when they realise their worth after a breakup.

Produced by Michael J Martin and directed by Abi Ford (@studiof000rd), the music video is abundant with elements of care-free fun, showcasing Cate in mundane yet contemporary scenes where she’s pictured as the life and soul of the party amongst a group of friends.

Talking about the track, Cate admits, “I wrote U Want Me with my friends Navvy and Josh Wilkinson last summer! My friend had just gone through a breakup and I had a similar thing the year before. We were joking that the people we were seeing moved on really quickly but then months later regretted it – where we moved on a bit slower but then never returned to the trenches after that. I’ve never really written a more empowering song than this one – it’s honestly delusional but I think in a nice way. I wanted a song to put my headphones in and strut down the street to, and I feel like this is it.”

After taking to the stage as Maisie Peters’ support act on her recent tour and performing to a packed out crowd at this year’s The Great Escape Festival in Brighton, Cate continues to lure in new listeners with her infectious and confessional pop.  Inspired by the likes of Dolly Parton and childhood hero Hannah Montana, Cate combines sugary pop-hues against playful yet vulnerable lyricism, drawing resemblance to noughties-era Taylor Swift.

Racking up over 10 million overall listeners on Spotify since her debut single in 2019, with monthly listeners rising to 630k, Cate shows no sign of slowing down, with various festival performances and a UK headline tour all happening this year.

The headline shows kick off this Autumn, making stops in Leeds, Glasgow, Manchester, Dublin, Birmingham, Bristol and London throughout October. Tickets are on sale now at cateofficial.com.
