Following the release of her poignant love song “U Should,” and just in time for her acting debut, fast-rising artist and activist Chika has shared her latest single “My Power” via Warner Records. The single is featured in the Netflix film Project Power – out now. Boasting about self-worth, Chika’s new track celebrates the power of perseverance.

Chika originally made a name for herself by rapping and freestyling, resulting in praise from publications like The New York Times and Billboard. She also graced the covers of Teen Vogue, NYLON, Business of Fashion, and most recently was announced as part of XXL Magazine’s 2020 Freshman ClassChika’s methodic beats and socially-conscious rhymes turned the heads of prominent artists, including Cardi B, Erykah Badu, Diddy and Snoop Dogg, who recently crashed Chika’s Instagram live to give her “flowers.” 

Amidst the release of her debut EP Industry Games, actor Jamie Foxx saw potential in the Alabama-native within the film industry. Beyond contributing uplifting and confidence-inducing rhymes to the Netflix film, Chika also makes her acting debut playing a high school classmate. At 23-years-old, Chika has established a track record of actively using her platform to advocate inclusivity and challenge societal norms regarding race, gender, mental health and body image.

She opted to kickstart her career on the mic instead of enrolling in Berklee College of Music. The risk paid off. After starring as the face of Calvin Klein’s #MyCalvin campaign, she introduced a scorching signature style on her 2019 independent debut single ‘No Squares’. Cardi B championed her and Lena Waithe welcomed her to perform on ‘Jimmy Kimmel LIVE!’. She’s since amassed a fervently devout fan base that includes Erykah Badu, Lin Manuel, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Jay-Z and Jada Pinkett Smith. Recently, LeBron James invited her to perform her single ‘Crown’ on his ‘Graduate Together’ TV special for high school seniors

Chika has garnered widespread acclaim from i-D, Vogue, Grazia, Pigeons & Planes, Pitchfork, Billboard, TIME, Out Magazine, XXL, Newsweek, Nylon, V Magazine, them., Essence and C.R. Fashion Book, and graced the cover of Teen Vogue. Chika is also VEVO’s 2020 DSCVR Artist.
