Claire Richards has revealed Summer Night City, the next taster of her forthcoming album, Euphoria. The new track, which features the legendary Andy Bell from Erasure, is available to stream/download now here and the lyric video can be watched hereEuphoria, out 25th August, can be pre-ordered here.

Summer Night City is the second song to be revealed from Euphoria and follows the brilliant first single I Surrender. The sublime, club-ready version of the Celine Dion track has been picking up praise all over the country and is already added to over 23 radio playlists and saw Claire interviewed this morning on Zoe Ball’s BBC Radio 2 breakfast show.

Summer Night City sees Claire join forces with Erasure’s Andy Bell for a raucous cover of the Abba track. The pair bonded 12 years ago while competing on TV’s Popstar to Operastar and Claire adds: “While it’s always scary to tackle ABBA, we chose to include ‘’Summer Night City’ on the album because it’s not an obvious choice but it’s an absolute banger.  The idea of inviting Andy Bell to duet on this song is truly a full circle moment for me 12 years after becoming friends while competing on Popstar to Operastar. Both Steps and Erasure have so many connections to ABBA. It felt like a perfect match but probably not one people would expect. I’m delighted to have Andy be part of this record”.

One of the greatest and most unmistakable voices in British pop, Euphoria brilliantly showcases Claire’s powerful and stunning vocals on a lovingly curated collection of covers of songs by female singers who have helped shape Claire as an artist and singer. The title – and sense of intense pleasure it promises – captures what the album means to her and what she hopes it will mean to fans. “Every single song is a banger – listening to this album just makes me feel good,” she says. “I want everyone to whack it on before they go out and get themselves completely in the zone of having a good time”.

Claire will also be playing around the UK at some of the biggest Pride festivals, including Manchester and Brighton (with her Steps bandmates). She also recently headlined Liverpool’s Eurovision Village in May performing right before the grand final, and closed her set with the album’s title track Euphoria, arguably the greatest Eurovision song of all time.
