Astrid S released ‘Dance, Dance, Dance’ on Friday via Universal Music Norway/Virgin EMI – the first track to be released from her anticipated forthcoming debut album. The official video, creative directed by Astrid herself, is also out now. Watch the video below.

‘Dance Dance Dance’ is written by Astrid, Litens Anton Nilsson and songwriting and producing duo Jack & Coke (Charli XCX, Rita Ora, Tove Lo), who also produced the track. Infused with retro synths and Astrid’s signature icy vocals, ‘Dance, Dance, Dance’ is an infectious first glimpse of the rising star’s long-awaited debut record.

Of the track, Astrid says:

“’Dance Dance Dance’ is the first song from my debut album. I wrote it at a time that I was feeling very self-conscious, questioning everything I do and distancing myself from my friends and family. I guess I could’ve avoided feeling that way if I’d talked to a friend about it. But – I’m glad I didn’t because then I wouldn’t have written this song! I’m very excited to give it to all of you and hopefully it will make you want to make mistakes, call a friend to tell them that you’re having a bad day and need a drink or just GET UP AND DANCE!”

Also released over the weekend was the official video for ‘Dance Dance Dance’, the first video to be entirely creative directed by Astrid herself. The video was shot in Norway and co-directed by Astrid alongside Michael Ray Angeles Vera Cruz (akam1k3) and Mathias Thue. Astrid came up with the original concept, stemming from a conversation she had with a friend about what a perfect music video might look like. The video thus begins with Astrid and Scandinavian actor and influencer Thea Sofie Loch Næss dreaming up a video that they soon find themselves in, quickly moving to a split-screen view that features everything in Astrid’s imagination – from dancing on water to a disco-covered car.

The past three years have seen Astrid grow from a national treasure in her home country of Norway to an internationally-loved pop artist. After releasing four EPs, reaching over a billion and a half streams, receiving a Norwegian Grammy, completing sold-out headline tours across the US, Europe and Australia as well as supporting tours with Years & Years and Zara Larsson and collaborating with the likes of Shawn Mendes and JP Cooper, Astrid S is finally ready to release her debut album.
