Dizzy release new single ‘Sunflower’ on Communion Records and announce a new live show at London’s Lafayette on November 18. Watch the ‘Sunflower’ lyric video here and stream the track here.

Produced by Dizzy and mixed by Craig Silvey (Arcade Fire, Florence & The Machine), ‘Sunflower’ is the first release from the Canadian four-piece since last year’s Heavy / Twist EP, which followed their 2018 debut album, Baby Teeth. Speaking about the track, frontwoman Katie Munshaw says, “‘Sunflower’ is a three and a half minute ‘snap out of it!’ to myself when I’m feeling low, unconfident or not myself.”  The beautifully breezy track sees Munshaw drift between self-loathing and tender self-talk, her lyrics alternately telegraphing raw sensitivity and sweetly self-deprecating humour (“I wanna hear the sound / Of what a broken heart does / When I fling it to the ground.”)

Baby Teeth was Dizzy’s coming of age story, set in the dense suburban sprawl of their hometown Oshawa, Ontario. Their influences and lyrics were both personal and universal in a way that could speak to anyone who has dealt with the anxieties of small-town ennui. The album won the Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year in 2019 and garnered international praise from the likes of The Times, Beats 1, NME and Stereogum, who described the music as “a dreamier update of Lorde’s sleek, minimalist pop-rock.” They have also toured with the likes of Death Cab for Cutie and Tokyo Police Club and appeared at London’s All Points East Festival in 2019. In 2020, Dizzy will embark upon an 11-date tour of UK and Europe alongside Oh Wonder.
