Alt/pop trio SHADED have today released their brand new single, Heartbroken People. Led by frontman Matt East’s gentle vocals, his signature heart-felt lyrics help shape this ode to a first love. The music video will premiere tonight at 9pm. Listen to Heartbroken People here.
Matt has explained of the new release, “Heartbroken People is a love letter to my high school best friend. It was a relationship that gave me my first insight into what it was like to be in love, and has in-turn shaped the way that I am in relationships. I wanted to pay homage to everything that this person gave me during that period of time, and just hope she’s happy, wherever she is. It was the perfect way for us to end the EP _003 as a resolve to the, predominantly, sombre theme. We made this EP to address the tougher and darker times that come as a result of a heavy breakup, but as is often the case, things ALWAYS work out for the best, and that’s the story we wanted to tell with this EP’s theme and Heartbroken People”.
Alongside this, they have announced the highly anticipated release of their _003 EP. The 5 track body of work will consist of the newly released Heartbroken People, previous single My Nightmare which recently received its first radio play on BBC Music Introducing East, and unheard material including It’s Hard, Forever and We Should Be Happy. The EP will be available to stream on 27th September.
Showing no signs of slowing down, the three-piece have announced an intimate live show at Old Blue Last in Shoreditch. SHADED will play a special Live Nation showcase on 29th September, and tickets can be purchased here. Cutting their teeth on the live scene over the last few years, SHADED have played shows with Stand Atlantic, Hey Charlie as well as several headline tours, plus festivals such as The Great Escape Festival in Brighton.
Last year saw SHADED launch their most ambitious and exciting body of work, A Year Of You. The ongoing project will culminate in a total of 20 songs, released during the course of the lockdown. The tracks explore themes such as heartbreak, self-discovery and recovery, and blends genres RnB, pop, rock and funk. EP 1 _001 can be heard here, and _002 can be heard here. SHADED have received strong support across Spotify where they have surpassed 2 million overall streams, and on Apple Music where they have been included in several playlists.
