Izo FitzRoy’s recent singles ‘A Good Woman’, ‘Give Me The High’ and ‘God Gets A Little Busy Sometimes’ have been greeted with Radio 2 plays from Trevor Nelson and Anita Rani, playlists at Jazz FM, New Music Friday playlist at Spotify and a live studio performance from FIP in France – adding to previous support from Radio 1, 6 Music and NPR. Now Izo further previews the April 28th release of the ‘A Good Woman’ album by sharing a new live studio performance of ‘Give Me The High’.

As soon as Izo steps in to deliver the song’s opening line, it’s clear that she stands amongst the UK’s finest modern soul artists. The intoxicating, towering high notes of the hook provide the song’s instant peak, while the deeper, resonating tone she deploys during the verses presents a different but equally exemplary angle to her multifaceted voice. Her physical performance is stylishly understated and rightly so, for it’s striking how much she simply feels the music. And if that’s not enough, her class is matched by a five-piece live band and six gospel-style backing vocalists.

The performance was filmed in the aesthetically pleasing live room at The Pool in Bermondsey, south London, and was directed and edited by Jodie Canwell.

Izo says, “‘Give Me The High’ is a song I wrote about the shimmering ecstasy of new love. It was an amazing experience to head back to the Pool Studios to record these tracks live. Not only is it a phenomenal space, but I am also in the hugely lucky position of performing with some incredibly talented musicians and singers. Hearing these tracks come to life, and take on a new world of their own was so wonderful”.

Izo will play an album launch show at London’s Jazz Cafe on April 22nd, with further headline shows confirmed in Norwich and Manchester. She will also  play Jalapeno Records’ Jalapeno Bop in Brighton along with The Allergies and Sam Redmore and the Tropical Soundclash Allstars.
