“’Circles’ harks back to the inspiration I had for my very first album, of the music from the late 90’s and early 00s,” James says. “This is what I wanted my music to sound like, and it’s who I am as a result.”

Lyrically the song is about what keeps you up at night. “I know you want to keep your enemies near, but it’s only your voice you’ll hear at 4am,” he sings.
