Lyrically, it addresses the realisation that comes in any content long-term relationship: suddenly years have passed, almost without you noticing.

Jamie says, “How did we get to midnight is a song about my obsession with time. I’m an overthinker, and as I’ve got older, I’ve started to understand the value of time a lot more. I used to think I was gonna be a kid forever, but I blinked and that time was over. Now life for me is about trying my hardest to be present, grateful and remembering that I need to cherish time with the people I love the most. This song is that reminder to myself.”

Jamie Grey will head out on his first full UK and European headline tour this autumn. He previewed the tour by commenting, “I’ll be coming to you all to play the ‘Songs I Wrote’ tour which will be just me and my acoustic guitar, up close and personal raw and direct. This is what I’ve always dreamt about. If you’ve connected with a song of mine since I started releasing songs in 2020 I’d really love to see you there!”
