MURPHY arrives with the stunning ‘Energy Giver’ – rich in rhythm, feeling & melody – born from a moment of quiet reflection on the unseen ways people carry each other through life’s heaviest moments.
The track comes hot off the back of MURPHY’s recent COLORS x Tones Of London performance at London’s Outernet last month alongside M Huncho, Bawo, Jayahadadream & more..
Written in the aftermath of a late-night phone call with a close friend experiencing loss, the song sits in the space between giving strength and needing it back. A reminder that even those who hold others up sometimes need someone to do the same for them.
“A close friend called me after losing someone in her family. She said she needed a lift because I always made her feel lighter. The irony was that she’s exactly that person for everyone else. I started thinking about who I would’ve called as I was going through some difficult things myself. That’s really where Energy Giver came from.” Listen here.
MURPHY arrives having already delivered more than 12.5 million Spotify streams on his collaboration with Rules, ‘Feeling (Hold On You)’, released in February. With close to 1 million monthly listeners on Spotify, MURPHY’s audience continues to grow at pace despite his relatively small catalogue. Having enjoyed Greg James’ support, his first singles ‘Read Your Mind’ and ‘Still Here’ received ‘Track Of The Week’ support from BBC Introducing.
Alongside his solo releases, MURPHY has also made an impact with ‘All You Need’ – his collaboration with Ayo Maff, Muyeez and Smallgod, which has surpassed 1,000,000 streams across all platforms to date.
He will make his debut London headline show on October 21st at what will be a simply special night The Waiting Room – tickets here.
