Ascendant soul-singer Olympia Vitalis returns with her opulent new single ‘December Sunshine’, with multi-instrumentalist and producer Charlie J Perry, known as Common Saints. The track is a rich exploration of love as a refuge, capturing that distinct winter longing where the warmth you search for is found in a person you love. The track is available here.

The single arrives following Olympia’s illustrious EP, Lady Luck, released in July, and a triumphant festival run over the summer, with appearances at Love Supreme, All Points East, Good Vibrations and GENT Jazz. Continuing her impressive live run, Olympia is set to take the stage for a sold-out show at London’s Kings Place later this month on October 16th.

Speaking on ‘December Sunshine’, Olympia says: “‘December Sunshine’ was written in the dead of the British winter when I was wearing a couple layers and thermals in the studio. It’s about when the warmth you crave in the winter is in the form of a person you love. It was written incredibly quickly and lives quite comfortably next to Lady Luck but also in a world slightly adjacent. Charlie and I listened to Marlena Shaw’s The Spice of Life and really old-school soul records before we made this and so once the song had been made, we wanted to emulate that in the sonics, hence its slightly more vintage mix than the other songs.”

Common Saints adds: “Olympia and I have been collaborating for a while and this song came about very naturally. We drew heavily upon both our taste and inspirations from the 1960s and ‘70s and she really captured the magic in the vocal. Can’t wait for this one to be in the world! Absolute banger.”

Lady Luck is sonically the most considered work of Olympia’s career to date. Produced in its entirety by Charlie J Perry, the pair’s visionary creative partnership shines throughout. Lady Luck is Olympia turning the lens on herself, interrogating something both personal and universal: the relationship between talent and timing, between readiness and the moment that meets it.

It is an artist doubling down on her own instincts, trusting that knowing when to move is as important as knowing how. In music, as in life, luck rarely arrives uninvited. A meditation on timing as much as talent, and the quiet courage it takes to back yourself.
