Singer, songwriter and West End star Shaun Escoffery has been confirmed to perform at Camden Unlocked Festival on Sunday 26th July. With three consecutive BBC Radio 2 playlist additions for his singles ‘River’, ‘Candle’ and ‘Forgotten Man’, Shaun will be performing songs from his upcoming album ‘Strong Enough’, out now on Decca Records, as well as fan favourites. Shaun is on the bill alongside Miles Kane, Mae Muller and Sons of Pitches.

The first live music event in the UK since the national lockdown, Camden Unlocked is a series of music events with eight ticketed, free open-air weekend performances commencing Saturday 25th July through to 16th August, under the banner ‘Camden Unlocked’. It will take place on a special, socially distanced open-air stage situated in Camden’s iconic Stables Market.

Following months of national lockdown with all live music events being cancelled or postponed, the performance space at Camden Unlocked will observe all current government guidelines on social distancing and safety following the market’s reopening to the public on 15th June.

London’s rich music scene has always been an integral part of Shaun’s life. Born and raised in East London, he says “Mum was a singer and Dad was a DJ. I began to start writing and recording with a mate, performing at church. My school report advised my parents to encourage me in music.”

The singer has been thrilling West End audiences with his powerful and soulful voice since he was a teenager. Holding the prestigious role of Mufasa in The Lion King for the past 12 years (the longest-standing actor in the world to do so), he has been championed by Sir Elton John and childhood friend Idris Elba, becoming one of the most recognisable voices in the country.

With his forthcoming performance at Camden Unlocked, and the release of his new album ‘Strong Enough’, Shaun hopes he can uplift those who may be enduring hardships, uniting people with the transcendental power of music.

‘Strong Enough’ by Shaun Escoffery is out now on Decca Records.

Health and safety will be paramount, with social distancing being implemented and the wearing of Facemasks encouraged.  There will also be hand sanitiser dispensers available throughout the area.
