14th April 2020:  Today, singer-songwriter and bassist Tal Wilkenfeld releases the video for “Killing Me,” a standout single taken from her debut solo album, ‘Love Remains’ (BMG). Exploring her perspective on isolation and self-reflection, the Marielle Tepper (Gaslamp Killer, Lapalux) directed clip sees the formidable instrumentalist and vocalist in a small unadorned room, fighting a physical representation of her dark side by way of a body double in a black suit.

Tal also contributed to Thrive Global, writing a feature where she explains that loneliness doesn’t have to be a lonely experience.  View HERE

“I think it’s important to become best friends with your dark side,” Tal says about the video. “When you stop resisting it and work as a team, you can find freedom. My shadow self has held up many mirrors for me, and helped me see myself more clearly.”

“This video uses allegories related to the shadow self and the inherent contradictions of self-discovery,” director Tepper says about the visual. “Tal finds herself in a dream realm where she grapples with manifestations of her unconscious mind. A metaphysical tug of war leads her to search outside herself. But she finds the delicate house of cards she’s constructed collapsing in the face of a light shone inward.”

From “Corner Painter,” her rollicking debut single featuring Blake Mills and Benmont Tench, to “Haunted Love” a soft selection of melodious yet prolific bass and orchestra, to the warm ballad “Under The Sun,” with yearning sounds from an Indian classical violinist, Tal Wilkenfeld’s ‘Love Remains’ showcases a transcendent balance between instrumental prowess and exquisite song-craft. The firebrand musician has received endorsements from the likes of Mick Jagger and Prince and was recently honoured with the Visionary Award at the She Rocks Awards alongside Gloria Gaynor, Lizzy Hale, and Linda Perry.

‘Love Remains’ debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart and Tal’s performance of “Killing Me” on Jimmy Kimmel Live cemented her as a solid live solo musician and marked a remarkable national TV debut.
