‘For the sake of my love I hope I make it’ represents a significant step forward for The Bankes Brothers – they approached the album with a simple philosophy: “serve the song.” This gave them the freedom to follow each song wherever it wanted to go – the result is their most versatile and confident collection to date, drawing from indie rock, folk, classic rock, pop, and the raw energy of the band’s live sound while allowing each song to develop its own identity.
The whole album was recorded with acclaimed producer Gus van Go (The Beaches, Metric, Arkells), with the new single ‘Georgia Peaches’ being one of the earliest tracks recorded. The song began with a lo-fi, bedroom-written feeling that the band deliberately preserved in the studio. During a rainy stretch in Toronto, van Go even placed a microphone in the doorway of the studio to capture the sound of the rain outside, ultimately weaving it into the song’s opening. It quickly became a benchmark for the creative approach that would shape the rest of the album. Rather than adding layers for the sake of complexity, The Bankes Brothers focused on preserving the spirit of the original demo, a catchy, bedroom-written tune that felt complete long before it entered the studio.
The new album follows a breakout run across 2025 and into 2026. The band returned to international touring with performances at the iconic Isle of Wight Festival in the UK, a showcase at Reeperbahn Festival, and support dates across Europe and the UK alongside Great Gable and The K’s after previously supporting Red Rum Club throughout the UK. Back home in Canada, they continued to build their profile, sharing stages with Cold War Kids, Band of Skulls, Current Swell, and Jesse Roper, including multiple performances at Vancouver’s legendary Commodore Ballroom and a standout hometown appearance at Phillips Backyard Music Festival in front of more than 5,000 attendees.
