Toploader were one of the biggest bands of the early 2000s, with a triple-Platinum debut album ‘Onka’s Big Moka’, over 3.6 million domestic sales of their global smash hit ‘Dancing In The Moonlight’, and four BRIT Award nominations. And their success continues today, with 1.5 billion streams to date, almost 8 million monthly listeners at Spotify and they remain to be renowned for their live sets. This has included sharing the stage with countless big names including Coldplay, Muse, Robbie Williams, Noel Gallagher, Paul Weller, Bon Jovi, Simple Minds and Counting Crows, plus playing festivals such as Glastonbury and Reading – and most recently as guests to James Blunt on his arena tour. Now Toploader release the new single ‘Sleepyhead’, their first new music in over a decade. Listen HERE.

‘Sleepyhead’ shows that their flame is undiminished, its uplifting piano-pop rich with Joseph Washbourn’s engagingly soulful voice, an organic ‘70s-tinged warmth within the band’s musicianship, and tight vocal harmonies. Like many of the fan favourites in their back catalogue, it’s a song that somehow feels simultaneously chilled out and energising – a wake-up morning anthem for breakfast shows and morning playlists alike.

Vocalist and keyboardist Joseph Washbourn says, “‘Sleepyhead’ explores our seemingly inherent human inability to wake up and smell the coffee. Even when the odds are so obviously stacked we’d rather bury our heads in the pillow, turn off the alarm clock and go back to bed! The song was written around a riff created on a vintage Yamaha CP80 piano, used heavily on classic recordings by Peter Gabriel, Billy Joel and Genesis.”

2023 proved to be the busiest summer festival season of their entire career – and now Toploader bring that big stage experience to their current intimate UK headline tour which commenced last week. The remaining dates are below, and limited tickets are available HERE.
