Trunky Juno’s inimitable brand of lo-fi pop has established him as one of the most exciting new artists to emerge from the north east of England. Combining irresistibly catchy choruses with a technicolour sonic palette, the self-described “lo-fi pop noodler” draws upon a melting pot of influences ranging from Flaming Lips and MGMT through to Father John Misty and Mac DeMarco.

Central to Trunky Juno’s music is his irreverent lyricism, covering subjects as diverse as Patrick Swayze, defunct game shows of yesteryear, and controversial pizza toppings. Beneath the eye-catching titles and lyrical hooks, however, lies an ability to tell relatable stories in unique ways, with a focus on the emotionally intangible – hard to pin down feelings such as nostalgia, or bittersweetness.

Early support for debut EP ‘Too Many Teeth’ came thick and fast, culminating with a Radio 1 playlist for single ‘I’m Just As Scared As You Are’. Jack Saunders (BBC Radio 1) and Zane Lowe (Apple Music 1) have both championed Trunky Juno from an early stage, whilst Spotify have supported via tastemaker playlists including ‘Hot New Bands’, ‘The Indie List’ and ‘Lo-Fi Indie’. Trunky Juno releases his second EP on Young Poet Records in 2021.
