Between her four Grammy nominations, magazine covers and super-star collaborations, 2019 opened a new chapter in the story of Victoria Monét. While the Sacramento-born, LA-based singer-songwriter isn’t a household name just yet, she’s meteorically on the rise and quickly being tipped everywhere from The Guardian to The Fader as one of 2020’s most exciting talents since the release of her latest single ‘Ass Like That’ and duet with Ariana Grande on the Charlie’s Angel soundtrack in the fall of last year.
Now Monét seeks to solidify the hype with new single ‘Moment’, a standout sonic marker ushering in a new era for the R&B protege. Monét effortlessly floats innuendo and silky smooth vocal runs on top of bittersweet string arpeggios, live instrumentation and minimal beats, referencing some of the late 70s greatest musical moments, gifting the listener with a warm embrace and a nod of encouragement – your time has come. A declaration of self-manifestation, ‘Moment’ slyly pushes the envelope from the perspective of experience and perseverance, making dreams become reality and encouraging acceptance of destiny. The song was produced by producer D’Mile (Lucky Daye, H.E.R., Beyoncé, Snoh Aalegra) and Tim Suby (Jessie Reyez).
Speaking on the track, Monét says “Moment is a song about lust transformed to reality. A psychedelic, musical mini world for a sensual dream that comes true after building tension. It’s a song encouraging a lover to step up to the beauty once imagined and make the satisfaction worth all of the salivation at last.”
