After sell-out performances last year, the Russian State Ballet and Opera House is back for its annual UK tour with spellbinding, lavish, full-production touring ballet. We are currently touring with three incredible classical ballets, Swan Lake, Nutcracker and Giselle.

Swan Lake – With its instantly recognizable music and a timeless story of good versus evil, Swan Lakeis the greatest of romantic ballets, featuring an evocative score from the prolific composer Tchaikovsky.

Swan Lake is a Russian classic, replete with haunting music and exquisite dance. This ballet has captured the imagination of many generations. Its fairy-tale mystery and romance continues to fascinate audiences worldwide.

Swan Lake is a tale of two young women, Odette and Odile, who resemble each other so closely one can easily be mistaken for the other.

It is the compelling legend of a tragic romance in which a princess, Odette, is turned into a swan by an evil curse.

Prince Siegfried chances upon a flock of swans while out hunting. When one of the swans turns into a beautiful young woman he is instantly captivated − will his love prove strong enough to break the evil spell that she is under?

The twinned roles of the pure White Swan and the scheming, duplicitous Black Swan tests the full range of a ballerina’s powers, particularly in the two great pas de deux.

Other much-loved highlights include the charming Dance of the Little Swans, performed by a moonlit lake, as well as sweeping ballroom waltzes in the splendour of the Royal Palace.

Swan Lake has become one of the most loved of all ballets.

The Nutcracker – The premiere of The Nutcracker transformed classical ballet into a fairy-tale and became one of Pyotr I. Tchaikovsky’s most famous compositions, as well as one of the most popular ballets in the world.

Featuring a timeless score from this gifted composer, The Nutcracker is a renowned Russian classic presenting, as it does, evocative music and exquisite dance.

This ballet, with its mystery and romance, has captured the imagination of many generations over the years and continues to attract large audiences worldwide.

Giselle – a Romantic Ballet in which love triumphs over betrayal

The gravely ill peasant girl Giselle falls in love with the handsome Prince Albrecht, who has been unfaithful to her. When jealous rivals claim her fiancé, the heartbreak is too much for her to bear. Weakened by her ill health and driven mad by despair, Giselle takes her own life.
