HOME is delighted to welcome back the internationally celebrated Hofesh Shechter Company for a second run comprising four performances of Grand Finale, a spectacularly bold and ambitious piece featuring 10 dancers and six musicians, first seen in a sell-out run at HOME in January 2018. Grand Finale returns to HOME, Wednesday 22 – Saturday 25 May 2019.

With choreography and music by Hofesh Shechter, design by Tom Scutt and lighting by Tom Visser, Grand Finale – described as a ‘fine spectacle’ ‘heart- stopping’, ‘a truly awe-inspiring piece of physical theatre’, and ‘a must’ – features live music played on stage by a sextet of classical musicians.

Grand Finale is at once comic, bleak and beautiful, evoking a world at odds with itself, full of anarchic energy and violent comedy. Filtering this irrepressible

spirit, Shechter creates a vision of a world in freefall, part-gig, part-dance, part- theatre, and wholly original.

The production received its world premiere at La Villette in Paris in June 2017 in a co-production with Théâtre de la Ville, prior to a critically acclaimed UK premiere in September at Sadler’s Wells, London. It has since enjoyed an extensive international tour to leading venues and festivals in the UK and around the world, including Colours International Dance Festival, Stuttgart; Dansens Hus, Oslo; Danse Danse, Montreal; Brooklyn Academy of Music, New York; as well as its run at HOME.

The company’s exceptional ensemble of dancers come from eight different countries, including Chien-Ming Chang, Frederic Despierre, Rachel Fallon, Mickael Frappat, Yeji Kim, Kim Kohlmann, Erion Kruja, Merel Lammers, Attila Ronai, Diogo Sousa, with Associate Director Bruno Guillore.

Grand Finale is produced by Hofesh Shechter Company, commissioned by Georgia Rosengarten, and generously supported by the International Music and Arts Foundation.
