Fresh from a new album and nationwide tour, Courteeners are heading back to Sheffield to headline Rock N Roll Circus 2027, bringing their unmistakable brand of indie anthems to Don Valley Bowl on Saturday 28 August.

And after blowing the doors off Tramlines last year, Liam Fray and co are preparing to do it all again, this time beneath the spectacular Rock N Roll Circus Big Top, with The Vaccines and The Lathums joining them for what promises to be one of the biggest nights of Sheffield’s summer.

The Manchester favourites will bring their God Bless The Band era to the Steel City for their only Sheffield show of 2027, as Rock N Roll Circus reveals the first wave of artists for its fifth year in the city.

Also joining the bill are The Guest List, Girl In The Year Above, Little Grandad, Cowboy Hunters, Cherryholt, Saint Clair, Ist Ist and Yorkshire’s Slates and south coast band Crystal Tides, bringing together established indie heavyweights and some of the most exciting emerging talent on the UK music scene.

With three further headliners still to be revealed across the four-day August Bank Holiday festival, organisers are promising another landmark year for the award-winning event.

For Courteeners, Sheffield has long felt like a second home.

Since bursting onto the scene with their debut album St. Jude in 2008, the band have built a fiercely loyal following, with Sheffield audiences embracing their music from the very beginning.

Led by frontman Liam Fray, the Manchester outfit have delivered some of the biggest singalong anthems in British indie music, including Not Nineteen Forever, What Took You So Long?, Are You in Love with a Notion? and Take Over the World.

Their latest chapter, God Bless The Band, has seen Courteeners embark on a nationwide tour, celebrating the songs, spirit and connection with fans that have made them one of Britain’s most enduring live acts.

Their return to Sheffield follows a storming appearance at Tramlines in 2026, where they delivered a performance that reminded everyone why few bands can command a festival crowd quite like Courteeners.

Now, with thousands of fans set to gather beneath the Rock N Roll Circus Big Top, the stage is set for another unforgettable Sheffield singalong.

Joining Courteeners are The Vaccines, whose explosive debut What Did You Expect from the Vaccines? helped define a generation of British indie music.

With a catalogue of festival favourites including If You Wanna, Wetsuit, Teenage Icon and I Always Knew, the London band have become one of the country’s most celebrated live acts, bringing relentless energy and infectious hooks to stages around the world.

Also heading to Don Valley Bowl are Wigan’s The Lathums, whose rise from grassroots venues to chart-topping albums and major festival appearances has been nothing short of remarkable.

Their emotionally charged songwriting, soaring melodies and passionate live performances have earned them one of the most devoted followings in British guitar music, making them a perfect addition to the Saturday line-up.

But Rock N Roll Circus has always been about more than the headline names.

The Big Top Stage will also welcome Manchester’s The Guest List, whose sharp, guitar-driven sound continues to turn heads, alongside rising acts Girl In The Year Above and Little Grandad, giving the next generation of artists a platform alongside some of their biggest musical influences.

And over on Stage 2, there’s plenty for music fans to get excited about.

Among the standout names are Cherryholt, part of the new wave of guitar bands making their mark on the live circuit, alongside Cowboy Hunters, Saint Clair and Slates, each adding their own sound and personality to the day’s programme.

They are joined by Manchester post-punk outfit Ist Ist, whose dark, brooding sound, atmospheric songwriting and fiercely independent approach have earned them a loyal following and a reputation for powerful live shows.

Stage 2 has become an important part of the Rock N Roll Circus experience, offering festivalgoers the chance to get up close to rising talent and discover new music between the major performances beneath the Big Top.

Now entering its fifth year in Sheffield, Rock N Roll Circus has carved out a distinctive place in the UK’s festival calendar, combining major live music performances with spectacular circus entertainment in a setting unlike any traditional outdoor concert.

Previous editions at Don Valley Bowl have welcomed some of the biggest names in music, including Queens of the Stone Age, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, The Kooks, Wunderhorse and Self Esteem.

The festival has also been shortlisted for Best Programming and Best Visitor Experience at the Access All Areas Awards 2026, alongside nominations for Best Small Festival at the UK Festival Awards 2026 and the European Festival Awards 2026.

Rock N Roll Circus returns to Sheffield’s Don Valley Bowl from Thursday 26 to Sunday 29 August 2027, with Courteeners headlining on Saturday 28 August.

Further headline artists, supporting acts and circus entertainment will be announced in the coming months.
